Pregnancy is a miracle of the body and feels unique to every woman.
While each mother has moments that she can share and relate to her friends about pregnancy, there are other moments that feel so specific to each woman.
A mom can have five children and feel different during all five pregnancies! That is the wonder that is pregnancy.
One mom had recently given birth to her daughter and felt odd a few weeks after. She had an idea of why she felt this way, but she didn’t think it was possible.
In early 2016, Eliza Curby gave birth to her daughter Charlie. Eliza had gotten pregnant after dating her partner, Ben, for three months.
Ben had always wanted to be a father, so the couple was overjoyed at the prospect of becoming parents together.
After their little girl was born, Eliza realized she felt a little off.
Just about everyone chalked Eliza’s feelings up to being a new mother. Every new mom can understand how sleep deprivation affects the body.
Eliza’s mom even told her that it takes at least six weeks for new moms to come up for air!
But to Eliza, it felt like more than that. She told News.com:
“I was exhausted trying to figure out the ins and outs of being a mum, but about a month after having Charlie though I felt really, super exhausted.
Everyone told me it was sleep deprivation catching up with me but I was not convinced – I remember looking at Ben and saying, ‘I think I’m pregnant.’
He just laughed.”
Eliza was right! As rare as it might seem, just six weeks after giving birth to her daughter, she was pregnant once again.
The surprises didn’t end there though. This pregnancy was different than her last.
“I say little as Ben’s idea of a family included two children — very nuclear indeed — I, on the other hand have always been set on having as many children as I can — nothing excites me more than the thought of walking through our local streets of Mona Vale with my own little clan.
Eliza found out that she was pregnant with twins, just six weeks after giving birth!
Over the course of two weeks, Eliza took four pregnancy tests and they all came back positive. Apparently, the ultrasound tech didn’t know how to tell her that it was twins.
“The technician seemed awkward and uncomfortable, before he finally said … ‘look it’s early days … but … I think there’s two’,” Eliza said.
Eliza was terrified by the news but also very excited. She said she googled “three under one” and didn’t find a lot of results and internally cursed.
“But three baby capsules won’t fit across most of the biggest five seater cars, so off we went car shopping, and I now drive a van — a big mamma VW van.”
